Many of us want to spend more quality time with our families, but are bogged down by chores and other must-do tasks. Below are a few tips to help you and your family get organized so that you’re able to spend more quality time together. Forward this helpful information on to family and friends to help them improve the efficiency of their homes as well.
If your family is like most, your mornings may be a chaotic flurry of everyone getting ready, while your evenings are scheduled around extracurricular activities, meetings, workouts and whatever else may come up. Although many families wish they had more time together, many schedules don’t allow for that. Here are five helpful time management tips to help focus your schedule and free up some time for you and your family during the week!
1. Eliminate the Chaos- Sure, easier said than done right? I know several mornings are spent looking for keys, bills or homework from the night before. Organize your morning process by purchasing a decorative bowl to keep your keys in, a letter sorter to keep important items and outgoing mail in, and a nice basket and rack to keep by the door for your kids to drop their backpacks and shoes in and hang their jackets. These simple organizational tools should streamline your morning in a calmer fashion.
2. Take the Stress out of Dinnertime- Plan your meals on Sunday for the week or make them ahead of time and freeze them. Download quick and easy recipes on http://delish.com or download the Cozi app on your phone to access a variety of great recipes for you and your family. There are more than enough for even the pickiest of eaters.
3. Get the Kids dressed with ease. – Many mornings are spent franticly figuring out what to dress the kids in, and yourself to get out the door on time. Sunday night, make sure all the clothes are clean for the week and organize 2 outfits for each day in the kid’s closet or dresser. Then the night before lay out the outfit of choice with socks and shoes ready to go for the morning. This one habit, if followed, will save minutes in the morning.
4.Break up Household Chores- Instead of saving all chores for the weekend; Pick one room or area to clean up each day. This will make cleaning less of a drag and free up time for fun stuff on the weekends.
5. Tackle the not-so-fun tasks first- Encourage your little ones to complete their homework when they first get home from school. Also, tackle any chores and tie up loose ends as quickly as you can once you get home. This way, you have the rest of the evening to relax together as a family.
